Lens/Body Galleries? PDF Print E-mail

Having just worked out I can do keyword based dynamic galleries (hawt!), I think I might consider putting another idea I had into practice. I was envisaging being able to view images by camera body and lens model. There are probably some useful benefits to this, like being able to see how much of my gallery is shot using how many lenses, as well as providing a very simple method to view examples of various lenses. I had originally planned on doing it with Exif data, as the Lens information is *meant* to be in the image. And apparently it is, only, Vista isn't seing the lens model, and I have no ability to add Lens info to the exif view of images on the gallery. Checking with another, third party though (http://regex.info/exif.cgi), the lens information does seem to be intact.

But anyway, Exif seems to be a bad way of approaching this, because then I'd need some search thing in the gallery to go by Exif, which I sadly don't have. It would be awesome though. Theres also custom fields, and that would probably work. But this keyword gallery thing had me thinking - why don't I just use an internal labelling system to refer to body/lens, tag images appropriately and fire up the old keyword gallery? Simple letter/number would work fine, and I know what lens I shot with (as does Lightroom :P). I was thinking Letter for the body (A-Z). I only have one camera body (at the moment), but its best to go into these kinds of things with a bit of future proofing eh? Having to retag several hundred images some time down the line because I failed at the foundations would make me look pretty stupid. And numbers for the lens. So I'll start with A for my 400D (I'll use B if/when I get a 40D), and lenses might as well be in the order I bought them, as the numbers hold no other relevance. So 01 (double digits, again, future proofing) for the Kit Lens (18-55mm F/3.5-5.6). I could/should use 00, especially as I didn't so much buy the lens, but reserving 00 makes sense. I could like, shoot without a lens or something. 02 for the 50mm F1.8 MKII, and 03 for the 70-200 F/4L USM. I could go one further and have another symbol for lens mounts, but that's probably just a little bit too much. I can't think of any major limitations or issues with this genius of mine (besides having to keyword a few hundred images). Anyone got anything stupid to say?
