The main complaint here is the trailing "j/k". It really really gets to me. It's meant to indicate that the comment before it was a joke ("j/k" meaning joke), thus absolving any hurt or offense the recipient may feel. Well, that's a crock of shit, but lets move on to the more fundamental issue. Humour explained is humour lost. If you have to explain it, its not funny any more. Further more, if you have to explain it, it never was funny. If you have to indicate what is and what is not a joke, it means it isn't, thus making its very use even more quizzical. Now please stop failing. <3 |
